Your mind and energy are stuck in the “should be” rather than facing the “what is” or even seeing the possibilities of what “could be.”

Your mind and energy are bound up in something that isn’t working, which blocks you from hearing the guidance Spirit is sending your way.

Your mind stays mired in anxiety and negative thoughts or emotions. Guess what? This doesn’t feel very good!

LET IT GO

So what should you do when a situation is spiraling out of control?

Well, if it’s not life threatening or dangerous in any way (physically, mentally, and emotionally), ask for help. You can ask someone else for help, or you can ask for spiritual guidance from the Divine. People often are happy to help, and God is there to assist at all times, day or night. To ask God, stop what you’re doing, take a few deep breaths, sit quietly, perhaps meditate or pray, and simply ask for help or guidance. I usually ask aloud, although others ask silently. You’ll find which way works best for you. That’s it. Seems pretty simple, doesn’t it?

Oftentimes, the hardest part for me is waiting for the guidance to come. I’m sometimes not very patient, so of course I want answers right now. I’ve learned that Spirit can work on a different schedule than we do so I’m developing the fine art of waiting attentively for the guidance to come.

If you ask Spirit for clarity, it may come immediately or you may need to wait for light to be shed on the situation. If you allow yourself some quiet moments, it will be easier for Spirit to show you the way.

Sometimes I get a little bit forceful in my questions or requests for clarity if a situation is quickly spiraling out-of-control. I might ask, “God, what in the world is going on here? What do I need to see or do in this situation? Please make it clear and obvious to me as soon as possible.”

Guess what? I usually get clarity very quickly, and usually so clearly that it’s impossible to ignore.

You could also try to take a mental and emotional step back from the situation. If you can, let it rest for a while without giving it too much attention. This may not be possible, but try.
